Here at OBX SandbarLiving, we can’t get enough fresh produce and locally-sourced dips, sauces, and honey! Here’s a look at some of our favorite area farmstands:

Morris Farm Market in Currituck

Open through October, Morris Market is so much more than a produce cart! Featuring fresh produce, NC-made cheeses, and handmade baked goods, you’ll fill your cart in no time. There’s also a great assortment of nuts, sauces, spreads, dressings, honey, jams and jellies, North Carolina wines, and more. You’re likely to find more than a few locals hanging out at the bar and lounge, with rotating live musical acts and an assortment of food truck vendors. Stop by on your way to or from (or, rather, to AND from) the beach…but have your cooler ready and leave plenty of room in your trunk for the abundance of goodies you’re sure to find!

Grandy Greenhouse & Farm Market in Grandy

Another “must-do” on the way to or from the beach is the Grandy Greenhouse. Not only do they carry a great assortment of fresh produce, but they also offer homemade baked goods, locally-produced condiments, kitchenware, and gift items. Their greenhouse features a lively seasonal assortment of flowers, shrubbery, and vegetable slips. Oh, and did we mention the frozen yogurt stand? Open through October.

Seaside Farm Market in Corolla

Conveniently located in Corolla’s shopping district near Tim Buck II, you’ll likely run into all your neighbors at Seaside! While the market carries plenty of great produce, fresh seafood is the star of the show here, where you can choose from an assortment of fresh or steamed ocean delicacies and homemade side items such as coleslaw and crab dip. Their housemade fudge selection is the ultimate in decadence, as is their selection of ice cream scoops and shakes (they even have coffee floats and wine ice cream!). Seaside is open daily during the season — they typically close up sometime in September.

Green Acre Market in Duck

Located on the south end of Duck, this adorable little farmstand is a quick walk or bike ride for those produce-seekers staying in the area. Because of the seasonality of this market, you’ll mostly find summer-season veggies such as yellow and zucchini squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. Green Acre also carries a nice selection of fruit, including fresh pineapple, grapes, berries, and melon. You might also find a fresh salsa or dressing to go along with your bounty of produce. Green Acre typically stays open through late August, and they’re closed on Sundays, so don’t miss it!

Tarheel Too in Kill Devil Hills

Located out front of the Seagate North shopping center at MP 5 on the bypass in Kill Devil Hills, Tarheel Too is a small-but-mighty operation. Not only do they carry locally-sourced fruits and vegetables, they also offer a rotating assortment of baked goods, local honey, salsas, grits and baking mixes, and plants! Tarheel is perhaps best known for the little extra conveniences they offer, from curated produce boxes that can be pre-ordered as well as a weekly delivery route in-season. Be sure to follow them on social media for their schedules and weekly offerings.
